While the Autobots battle the Decepticons, Epps and his team try to destroy the pillar from another skyscraper. However, they are attacked by Shockwave and the Driller, who brings the skyscraper crashing down. Optimus Prime comes to their aid and destroys the Driller, but is shot by Shockwave and becomes trapped in crane cables. In the meantime, Lennox and the rest of NEST have managed to make their way into the city using wingsuits , and with Lennox's help, Sam destroys Starscream using weapons provided to him by the Autobot scientist Que.
Meanwhile, the Decepticons have captured several Autobots, but Dylan convinces them not to keep prisoners and kill them all. Barricade executes Que, and Soundwave moves to kill Bumblebee next, but the Autobots Wheelie and Brains have managed to make one of the Decepticons' ships crash, thereby distracting Soundwave long enough for Bumblebee and the other Autobots to get free.
Bumblebee overpowers and kills Soundwave. Autobots and Tanks roll in and ambush the Decepticons. Optimus Prime returns and massacres a large group of Decepticons. He then kills Shockwave and uses the Decepticon's arm cannon to topple over the space bridge's control pillar, deactivating the bridge.
Optimus Prime then confronts Sentinel Prime and the two engage in a ferocious battle of Student vs Master. Carly stumbles across Megatron outside the main battle zone. Having previously witnessed a violent argument between Sentinel Prime and Megatron, she appeals to his pride and makes him realize that he will never be able to rule over Cybertron as long as Sentinel is alive. Meanwhile, after a long fight, Sentinel gains the upper hand over Optimus and severs his right arm.
However, before he can execute his former pupil, an infuriated Megatron attacks Sentinel and severely damages him, declaring that Earth is his planet to rule. Megatron realized how far he had fallen in power within the past few years, and has decided to once again take his rightful place at the top of the command chain. Meanwhile, Dylan manages to reactivate the toppled pillar, but is attacked by Sam, who hurls him against the pillar, killing him.
Subsequently, Bumblebee destroys the pillar for good, thus destroying the space bridge and, presumably, Cybertron with it. Seeing this, Megatron half-heartedly offers Optimus Prime a truce on the condition that he will remain in charge of the Decepticons, mockingly saying that they would be nothing without each other.
Realizing that the offer is less than sincere, Optimus refuses and attacks Megatron, decapitating him with an axe. The weakened Sentinel Prime tries to excuse his actions, but Optimus, claiming Sentinel "betrayed himself," executes the treacherous Prime with Megatron's shotgun.
With the battle over, Sam and Carly are reunited, and Simmons takes an opportunity to kiss Mearing, who he still has feelings for, and she has him arrested. With their home planet now forever beyond reach, and the forces of the Decepticons destroyed, the remaining Autobots finally accept Earth as their new home, as Optimus Prime states that the Autobots will always be here, to protect the Earth and all who live on it.

Megan Fox departs and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley takes her place as the one-dimensional female lead that serves only as eye candy and a distressed damsel.
The story is at least a little better than the sequel but still not as strong as the first film. The Whitwickey parents' banter also is getting old and monotonous. Leonard Nimoy as the older Prime is very well voiced. And as always, effects done well.

I'm not sure if Megan Fox quit or was fired from the Transformer films, but her doing so was sort of a double edged sword. Sam confronts Dylan with a gun, but is attacked and thrown out of the penthouse by Laserbeak. They both discovered later that Sam was saved by an Decepticon Fighter piloted by Bumblebee.
Their shock gave time for Carly to liberate herself and run towards the Fighter, thus being rescued by Sam. Seeking revenge for what Dylan did to her, Bumblebee destroyed the penthouse by opening fire at it, killing all of his bodyguards and Laserbeak in the process.
Upon surviving, Dylan warned Megatron about the Autobots' survival. Meanwhile, the Autobots are fighting with the Decepticons and Sentinel Prime, who have placed the pillars all over the world, releasing them, transporting Cybertron to Earth. It then begins materializing in the atmosphere. Wheelie and Brains sabotage the mothership, sending it crashing down into the Chicago River.
On top of a building, Sentinel attacks Megatron, telling him that he wanted his home world back, but Megatron won't rule it. During the battle, Soundwave , Que , Barricade and Shockwave are killed, with other protoforms. Sam somehow gets the control pillar, but he is attacked by Dylan. Sam throws Dylan into the pillar, electrocuting him to death.
Ratchet shoots the pillar before Bumblebee tackles it, smashing it to pieces, sending their home back through the space bridge, destroying it. Carly finds Megatron and she starts taunting him. Optimus attacks Sentinel,but loses his right arm.
As Sentinel is about to kill Optimus, Megatron shoots Sentinel and Sentinel ends up on the verge of death. Megatron offers Optimus a truce. Optimus throws his energon axe at Megatron, killing him. The injured Sentinel pleads for mercy and justified his actions, but Optimus claims Sentinel didn't betray the Autobots, but himself. Optimus then shoots Sentinel, killing him.
Don't worry, my friend - we'll be hailed as heroes for what we did here today! The movie ends with the Autobots accepting that they will never return to Cybertron, but that Earth is their new home.
Very similar to the animated broadcast cartoons including the Generation One cartoon and Transformers Animated , there were many errors in animating the robots.
Similar to the first two films, live-action vehicles or objects had to be computer-animated for the Transformers which was challenging similar to the traditional animated cartoons. One example is that 10, parts were computer animated to design Optimus Prime and the most complex Transformer design was Driller 's which was made of 70, parts. The production crew apparently had headaches in producing most of the film's length, especially during the Driller attacking the skyscraper scene which involved complex mastery of architecture.
Many accidents using vehicles were damaged as well, such as the Bumblebee Camaro crashing into a non-stop police car that left it totalled.
Just prior to transforming back into its regular mode, a package of Double A copy paper appears on top of it having not been there in the scene immediately before.
